If you had to choose, which would you pick: a house that is messy but quiet, or a house that is tidy but noisy?

I have been known to slack off on my "domestic duties," but our house is usually fairly Zenlike on the noise meter. We all seem to like it that way, particularly our junior resident, who has some auditory issues and who is currently looking for a new home for his two pet parakeets. They simply get too excited when he's in there watching TV or playing GameCube, and he's resorted to shushing and covering their cage to quiet them down.
