Support Native American Heritage

Many people realize and can appreciate the many, many contributions American Indians have made in the Americas and around the world. For example, the Irish wouldn't have their potatoes and the Italians wouldn't have their tomatoes without native American crops. American Indian government strongly affected the founding fathers in the United States. And the Native American abilities to survive, adapt, and persevere remind us that there is always still life worth living.

I had the great pleasure of working with an educational publisher called Life's Great. I used their Native-inspired products to spread the positive words of perseverance, kindness, and thankfulness to the children I spoke to. And the children clamored for the Life's Great wristbands that I handed out. (The teachers liked their adult-size wristbands and pins as well).

These wristbands are made of flexible silicone (no latex) and their bright colors represent the four directions: white is north; yellow is east; red is south; and black is west. They represent the Indian philosophy that everything in our world is connected and that we can honor this circle of life by treating our bodies well, respecting others, and taking care of the earth.

If you'd like to spread this positive message, contact Life's Great for a catalog of Native American resources. In addition to children's and adult-size wristbands, they have T-shirts, tote bags, bookmarks, stickers, temporary tattoos, and many other products that promote our first nations and healthy living.
